PDFelement 8 Launch | Web and Graphic Design

Project Introduction

Wondershare PDFelement 8 is a powerful PDF editing software that is used by millions of people and businesses around the world. Following the success of PDFelement 7, we were challenged to create an attractive introductory video and website to announce the launch of the newest version. It needed to be clearly understood how this version could help users achieve their PDF goals and I was involved in this project in several key areas.

Designing the Website UX/UI

One of my roles was to help design the UX and UI of the product homepage. Clearly communicating the product value was the principal goal for this page. Product value was communicated through these strategic content and layout choices:

  • Show key features in use cases familiar to audiences. Ex. Filling out an invoice or signing a document.

  • Display logos of fortune 500 clients to establish trust and credibility. Ex. Hitachi, Fujifilm, Bombardier, Deloitte.

  • Highlight raw data from users to emphasize reliability. Ex. PDFelement has over 2 million new users monthly.

  • Ensure page is interactive, responsive and adheres consistently to brand guidelines.

Designing the Brand Video Graphic Assets

Another role of mine was to contribute designs for the documents shown in the PDFelement 8 brand video. Through consultations with the director, I was given four scenarios for which the product would resolve a specific document need:

  • ‘Creator’ featuring a designer creating a document layout for an electronic scooter brochure.

  • ‘Forms’ featuring the accounting firm for whom filling legally binding document forms is needed.

  • ‘Editor’ featuring a cycling helmet store owner with needs for quick invoice edits and handoff to potential customers.

  • ‘Annotator’ featuring architecural bluprints on which the ability to circle, highlight and comment on blueprints is essential.

I began by researching these use cases and building these companies as if they were my brand-identity clients. Each document needed to look distinct and feel like they existed in the real world. The documents were designed using Adobe Illustrator in order to integrate more easily into the video production workflow.
